Simon Peragine Wins “Food from the Bar” Competition to Benefit Second Harvest Bank

October 14, 2019 News

Simon Peragine is proud to announce that the firm has been declared the official winner of the inaugural New Orleans Food from the Bar Campaign, a food drive and fundraiser in which local law firms competed for the most donations to Second Harvest Food Bank.

The New Orleans Division of the Association for Women Attorneys introduced the Food from the Bar Campaign to help raise funds for and donate food to local food banks. In an effort to help replenish food bank supplies in anticipation of higher demand during the summer months when children are not in school and therefore not receiving subsidized meals, the NOAWA introduced the campaign as a challenge to local law firms to compete among each other for the most financial and food donations made to Second Harvest Food Bank.

Attorneys Denise Puente, Susan Clade, and Megan Peterson decided to introduce their own intra-firm competition at Simon Peragine to help stimulate the fundraising efforts. SPS&R attorneys were divided into teams based on their respective law school allegiances. In addition to making their own food and monetary donations, the attorneys used their powers of persuasion honed in the courtroom to convince the staff of SPS&R to pledge donations in the name of their respective law schools.

At the end of the week-long competition, the alumni of Loyola College of Law emerged as the winner of the SPS&R intra-firm competition. But more importantly, the fierce law school rivalry propelled SPS&R to 1st place among the firms competing in the overall campaign. All total, the firm earned 999 points under the Food from the Bar Campaign scoring system, more than 400 points ahead of its closest competitor.

Simon Peragine is proud to continue its longstanding commitment of service to the community through the support of organizations like Second Harvest Food Bank. SPS&R would like to congratulate the NOAWA for organizing such a successful event and thank all members of the firm for their overwhelming generosity.
